Leveling Your World Of Warcraft Priest Without Tears

By Mike Miller | February 8, 2010

If you are someone who has ever tried to put together a raiding group, or if you have ever been spammed with the message \”Looking for Healer,\” on your capital city\’s trade channel, you know what a valuable resource a priest can be. The priest is World of Warcraft\’s mai

n healing class, and the higher the level, the more popular they are going to be. One of the reasons for this is that priests are often perceived as one of the most difficult classes to level in the game, and it is true that leveling them takes a different strategy than leveling, say, a warlock or a hunter. If you are set on getting a priest to the end game, though, there are a number of things to keep in mind.

First, figure out where your talent points should go as you progress. Your speed at going through the levels can be largely determined by the talent tree that\’s developed. If you want to get to higher levels fast, you might want to try the shadow talent tree, as that will help you the most. Those of you who want to play by yourselves would do well to think about this talent tree. You might not be quite as useful in a group, it\’s possible to provide very effective support in the end game.

If you\’re looking to be a classic healer instead you\’ll want to focus on the Holy talent tree. When you go through the Holy talent tree you\’ll be able to gain amazing healing power, as well as lower mana and lower casting and cooldown times. When it comes to parties a Holy Priest is extremely important.

On the other hand, the discipline tree might be the best bet for a priest that wants to heal targeted players instead of group healing. Your mana will be boosted with this tree, and it provides a good middle ground between shadow and holy trees. Your character can definitely thrive in the discipline tree, as there are aspects of the other two trees combined in this one.

Keep in mind that you want to consider your options in terms of trades when you start to level up the priest character you\’ve chosen to play. Tailoring would be perfect for a priest, as you can make your own armor, saving you gold. This will help you out a lot. With that said, cooking is also helpful, if only for the buffs you can receive.

You also want to keep track of re-speccing when you\’re leveling a Priest character. One great way to level that many players take advantage of is leveling as a Shadow Priest until level 38 or so and then switching to another tree. The first re-speccing won\’t cost you much and you\’ll get more people requesting you for their parties in group instances.

When you are leveling your priest, remember that an Alliance leveling guide can help you stay on track. Use all the resources you can to get the toon you are looking for!

Nubun\’s 1 to 80 WOW leveling guide is the number one guide to reach end of game content as quickly as possible. Have a look at the alliance leveling guide section for more tips.
