Picking The Ideal Racials For Your Alliance Warrior

By Roy Johnson | December 14, 2009

Thinking of playing Warcraft, but don’t want to play the same thing as everybody else? A decent place to start is the warrior class, its simple enough to get into easily, and can still function in whichever roles you pursue. Before you roll your warrior, you should first give each of the ra

ces of a look over; it can have a pretty big impact on your endgame playing. I’ll go over the Alliance races here.

Humans can excel in any class they roll, with its abilities being spread out, but not focused. Starting with Every Man for Himself, the PvP trinket in a racial, it has uses in PvE situations, too. Freeing up a trinket slot endgame is nice, too. The bonus to sword and mace expertise is great, making gearing easier and increasing damage and threat output. The ability Perception is great for PvP; it allows you to see stealthed units from farther away, giving you and extra chance to react. Lastly, the bonus to reputation gains is very nice, you’ll be grinding lots of reputation at max level.

The Dwarven race is also balanced for warriors, starting with Stoneform. The skill increases armor by 10% and drops all bleeds and poisons, both aspects come in handy, for tanking and for PvP. Next thing is the bonus to mace expertise. This is the same as from Humans, very useful for gearing endgame, and helping increase damage and threat gain. I’ve never found the bonus to gun criticals to be very useful myself, but it could be a decent way to gain some quick threat on a pull. Resistance to frost is decent. Treasure finding isn’t as good as it sounds, but it can help you get and extra gold now and again.

Gnome racials are more PvP oriented. The main ability, Escape Artist, drops movement impairing effects from you. This has its obvious uses for PvP, but it can help the tank pull mobs away from the healers and ranged dps in a raid or instance. The bonus to engineering is nice; engineering is a great profession in both PvP and PvE. Arcane resistance isn’t bad. A racial no listed on the list is the Gnomes size, they’re harder to target in PvP, where each second counts.

Night Elves are balanced, more geared towards tanking and PvP. The main ability Shadowmeld has more use in PvP endgame, letting you get out of sight, in battlegrounds this can ensure your survival. They have a bonus to evasion, which ic handy in PvP again, but even nice in tanking, when you need every point you can get. Wisp form makes leveling faster, keeping corpse run times down.

Lastly, Draenei have the heal over time Gift of the Naaru, with use in any situation. There’s the bonus to shadow resistance, always welcome. Then there’s Heroic Presence, with the 1% bonus to hit. Hit is an amazing stat, and should never be overlooked. The bonus to Jewelcrafting can be nice too. Draenei look completely awesome endgame, too.

This should give you a better idea of where to start in your adventures in Azeroth, I hope you enjoy playing. Before you go though, remember not to undercut someone in the Auction House, and to stay geared. Have fun with your warriors!
